Found in the Swift Creek midden, this is a podal support which exhibits deep and carefully applied rocker stamping. Originally mistaken for check stamping, this design appears to have been applied with the edge of a scallop shell. Attempts to replicate this design using a scallop shell from the Florida Gulf Coast have produced remarkably similar impressions on raw clay.
